After finishing college at Michigan State University in 1986, Karen moved west to Colorado to help manage the former Steak and Ale Restaurant at the then newly opened Westminster Mall.  Karen began her career in Real Estate in the Westminster/Broomfield/Arvada area soon after.  Initially licensed in 1987 when the economy was crashing due to the Savings and Loan scandal, many people advised “it’s a really bad time to get into the real estate business.. The market is awful!” her friends warned, but this did not deter her. A good mentor told her early on, “The market is always good for someone. Sometimes it’s good for the sellers and sometimes it’s good for the buyers. The only thing consistent about real estate is change and your ability as a REALTOR® to adapt to it”  In 1995 Karen started K.O. Real Estate in the Silo building at 90th and Wadsworth where it still operates as a full service Residential Brokerage to this day. Giving back to her industry has always been a priority for Karen. She started volunteering in advocacy efforts to protect the rights and attainability of home ownership. She received Local, State & National recognitions as an established industry leader.  During the Great Recession, Karen leveraged her experience and proven track record as a leader and manager and secured accounts with GSE giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.  During those years Karen achieved the #1 sales producer award multiple years in a row.
